How Love is related to business success? / The main cause of burnouts

Love seems like a word that is not related to business at all. Of course, business is about profit, strategy and critical thinking. But we often see that some companies cherish, employees are happy working there for years and the current clients are happy to bring new clients. While some businesses can not grow. I would like to share my thoughts on how Love helps in business.

The trigger for the creation of this article was the book “The man who wanted to be happy” by Laurent Gunnel. This little book with a simple title I bought just before my vacation. Actually to read this book you need just to spend a couple of happy hours, hopefully on the beach.

Below I am attaching the excerpts, sorry, in Russian :) The core of them is: while doing your job the best way to be happy is to do it from the bottom of your heart, with honesty and respect. What is more, it is important to care about people around you and let them do their best. This can be achieved with belief in people and their talents. First of all, with Love.

To be honest, I was sceptical when I bought this little book. The name was very simple even primitive as I thought. But I was amazed how the author managed to tell the most important things in simple words. I have already heard these words from my mentor, I actually have experienced everything on myself!

I got professional and personal growth being surrounded with Love and belief. I started analyzing people around me. Those startup owners who were burning with their ideas and those who just wanted to earn money having nothing but profit on their minds. People who became an inspiration for me and some people who were able to kill even the best aspirations.

The thing that is common for those who are happy and successful in business is Love.

When people do like what they do everyone around them feels this. Such people are charismatic and they become true leaders that are able to build teams. They are brave enough to be wrong and learn from others. They are brave enough to trust people and entrust complex tasks to their colleagues. What is more, if something goes wrong they are patient enough to let people learn from their own mistakes without judging them.

Professionals grow when they feel trust and are not afraid to act.

Even if someone gets lost it is possible to find the way and obtain all the necessary knowledge while being surrounded with Love and support.

Maybe you`d ask: what to do if people are continuously making the same mistakes or just don`t understand simple things?

Well, the work they do might be just not their cup of tea. You are lucky if you can understand this and help people with realizing their right way.

If someone works just to earn money without any pleasure and with no interest, this person with a high probability will never become successful. Even worse, being unhappy could lead to toxic behaviour at work. So such person could demotivate colleagues and scare away clients, even sometimes without realizing the reason.

When you do what you like you do this first of all for yourself, not to prove something to somebody, not to put a tick on your to-do list. You just need to be inspired and want to bring real value.

For example, spam has become a huge problem nowadays. I am talking about this because I am well acquainted with Lead Generation, I started my career as a Lead Generation Manager. So I realized that people who are constantly spamming to everyone without trying to understand their customers can not like their job. Maybe they are not even interested in success, their goal is just to send a particular number of letters and get back to things they like in their lives. And this is totally understandable that such people don`t like their job, I bet they feel the attitude to them at the company and feel that their job is not important. But every part of work is important and everyone should be assured in this.

For sure, there are numerous professions in IT that imply monotonous tasks and this is totally fine. The important part of preventing the burnout of people is to give them an understanding of their value and let them implement their own ideas. Thinking is a creative process so the one who thinks stays inspired.

When it feels like that the person totally doesn`t like the activity this is also fine to talk and understand the best place for this person. People should live for themselves first of all. This is a real talent of a Leader to reveal each human potential for the benefit of everyone.
